From the official Goiânia municipal website.
Dov Gutterman, 19 December 2000
According to this same website, the flag is described as green, divided into eight sections by vertical, horizontal, and diagonal white stripes with red overstripes. The coat of arms is placed on a white rectangle on the center. The coat of arms would be blazoned in English as "vert a fleur-de-lis or, in base a bar wavy argent." The green field is described as symbolizing victory, honor, civilized courtesy, joy, and abundance; the fleur-de-lis power; and the wavy bar the Botafogo Creek, on which Goiânia is located. The supporters are a bandeirante and a prospector. The motto on the scroll is Pela grandeza da patria (For the greatness of the fatherland).
