Minister of Defense

[Flag of the Minister of Defense]by Zeljko Heimer

The flag of the Minuister of Defense is square, horizontally divided blue-white-red, with the Yugoslavian Army coat of arms in the middle. In the emblem, the wreath to fly is made of oak leaves and the wreath to hoist is made of laurel.

The flag of the Federal Minister of Defense (Zastava saveznog ministra za odbranu) was adopted on 19 January 1995.

The two parts of the ribbon below the eagle are supposed to represent the tricolour flags of the two states constituting the federation, joining into the wreath to make the united tricolour of the federation. The symbol used on the flag is the symbol of the Army of Yugoslavia (Vojska Jugoslavia), now renamed Vojska Srbije i Crne Gore, but still using the same symbols, presumably at least until a new national flag is adopted. This symbol is the emblem of the Army, encompassing the land army, navy and air force.
