The county Märkischer Kreis was created in 1975 by joining the former counties of Iserlohn and Lüdenscheid, and the county-free city of Iserlohn. (...) The former county of Iserlohn used a white-red flag with the arms, according to the information given to Falko Schmidt by the county officials. The arms of Iserlohn show a rising horse (for Westphalia) and the symbols of the territories:

The county Märkischer Kreis was created in 1975 by joining the former counties of Iserlohn and Lüdenscheid, and the county-free city of Iserlohn. Lüdenscheid county was named Altena county before 1969 when the (formerly county-free) city of Lüdenscheid was integrated into it. (...) The former county of Altena/Lüdenscheid used a white-red flag with the arms, according to the information given to Falko Schmidt by the county officials. The arms of (...)
