The company was formed in 1896 and operated sailing vessels until around 1910 when they became shipbrokers and as such they have continued to the present day. Lloyd 1904 and 1912 show a red and white banded flag in line with that shown here but the company website shows a flag image which has the bands equal, the diamond a lot larger and the small "o" as vertical dash with top and bottom ends angled per bend sinister.

Mentz, Decker & Co. - Company-website: Similar, but with many differences, to the one above: nine equally wide horizontal stripes of red and white; in the center a white diamond outined black with black letters M.D.&C.

Mentz, Decker & Co. - According to my source this variant had stripes a equal width not in my image) and the diamond in the centre had no black edges and undotted letters.
