Presentation of Pregrada

Pregrada is located some 10 km due west from Krapina, with some 7 500 inhabitants, about 1 300 in the town of Pregrada itself. Pregrada was mentioned already in 1334.

The coat of arms of Pregrada is "Vert two lions rampant regardant and crowned or langued and armed gules holding together in front paws a church argent with two belfries roofed gules and in chief a mullet of eight or and a crescent argent".
The two lions are from the family arms of Keglević, an important feudal family that held two castles in the vicinity.

The coat of arms initially adopted included a checky chief divided to form the shape of hills and overall in cantons a bunch of grapes and antique guns. The design was rejected by the Ministry of Administration.
