Zlatar-Bistrica is a community in the Krapina-Zagorje County, some 20 km north of Zagreb and about 20 km southeast of Krapina, just south of the city of Zlatar. Population about 2,600, some 1,500 in the main village - the name sake of the community.
The coat of arms that must have been adopted in mid 1990's is Vert a turkey or standing on a four-spoked wheel sable issuant from a bar wavy argent. The wavy line rperesents Krapina river and the wheen probably stands for the mills that were built over it. Turkey is a typical argicultural product of the region and a traditional sunday meal.
The flag is light blue with a yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle.
Information thanks to Tomislav `ipek, according to magazine Turist plus, June 2003. and also my observation in Zlatar-Bistrica (road signs and similar), 2002.

At the web site of the County <www.kr-zag-zupanija.hr> there are available official gazettes since 2001 from which mostly this is compiled to update info we currently have.
Zlatar Bistrica - Statut Opcine Zlatar Bistrica, 9.10.2001, Slu~beni glasnik Krapinsko- zagorske ~upanije, br. 15/01, 05.11.2001.
The statutes includes the description of the coat of arms and the flag in article 7.

On 13 July 2006 the Croatian Sabor adopted a new law on local subdivision to replace the previous one from 1997 (amended 15 times since then until 2003). The new law is published in the official gazette: Zakon o podrucjima ~upanija, gradova i opcina u Republici Hrvatskoj, 13.07.2006, Narodne novine, 86/2006, 28.07.2006.The law was promulgated on 19 July by presidential decree and it became valid on the day of its issue in the gazette (28.07.2006).
Zlatar Bistrica is now spelled without the hyphen in between (Zlatar- Bistrica), even though the 1997 law has the hyphen, the local decision does no include it, as we see in the 2001.
