The community of Beretinec is some 10 km SW of Vara~din in Vara~din county. The main settlement, Beretinec has only just above 2,200 inhabitants (1993). The official gazette of the County available at <www.glasila.hr> contains the statute of the community: Statut Opcine Beretinec, 9.10.2001, Slu~beni vjesnik Vara~dinske ~upanije, br. 20/01.
The Statute contain description of the Coat of Arms and the flag, and the site of the County <www.varazdinska-zupanija.hr> includes the image of the Coat of Arms. The Coat of Arms is "Gules a Hadgehog Or".
The Statute claims that this is the historical coat of arms of Beretinec, but even if it provides longish explanation why the hedgehog was chosen, it does not mention when the Coat of Arms was granted/adopted first time and how it was ever used earlier. The flag is green with the coat of arms in the middle. Coat of Arms drawn from a rather poor original so it is quite "impresionistic" drawing that I am quite unsatisfied with.

This flag is similar to the one of Coudekerque Branche, in North France, French-Flandre zone, that is green with a black Hadgehog in the center.
