Northwestern Special Areas

The northwestern special areas (my naming) were divided between two regions: one was limited by Afghanistan, the provinces of British Baluchistan, Punjab and Northwestern Frontier and the Northwestern Frontier Agency, and the other one was placed between the Northwestern Frontier province, the Northwestern Frontier Agency and the residency of Jammu and Kashmir. Today, both areas belong to the Pakistani province of... Northwestern Frontier, naturally.

The first group of special territories included the territories of Khyber, Kurram, Tochi or Northern Waziristan and Wana or Southern Waziristan. The second group included two tribal areas: Kohistan and Hazara.

Hazara Tribal Area

To the south of Kohistan, but this time there are two towns around, very close to each other: Dasu and Jalkot. There is no info on flags.
Jorge Candeias, 11 May 1998

A doubtful flag for the people of Hazaradjat is found on the Afghanistan page.

Kohistan Tribal Area

To the north of the other tribal area in this region, I found no cities in it's area. And no flags also.
Jorge Candeias, 11 May 1998

No local flag of Kohistan, but it is possible that one flag reported in my Afghan pages was used by the Kohistan revolt circa 1930.

Khyber

Located between Afghanistan and the city of Peshawar, I found one city in this area: Landi Kotal, so that was probably it's capital. No information available on flags.
Jorge Candeias, 11 May 1998

Khyber and Khurran are in Pakhtunistan.
Jaume Ollé, 12 May 1998

Kurram

To the southwest of Khyber, I could find only one city here also: Parachinar, so... No info on flags also.
Jorge Candeias, 11 May 1998

Tochi or Northern Waziristan

To the south of Kurram, and also with one city only in my maps: Bannu. And again no info on flags.
Jorge Candeias, 11 May 1998

Wana or Southern Waziristan

Obviously, to the south of Tochi, and again only one city around: Wana. And again no info on flags.
