Presentation of Cerklje na Gorenjskem

The name of the municipality means 'churches on Gorenjska', Gorenjska being the 'highlands' located north-west of Slovenia. Usually only the first part of name is mentioned when there is no possibility of confusion (even once in the decision mentioned below).

Municipal flag of Cerklje na Gorenjskem

The coat of arms and flag are prescribed by decision Odlok o simbolih občine Cerklje na Gorenjskem, adopted on 15 May 1995 and published in the official gazette of Gorenjska Uradni vestnik Gorenjske, 10/XXVIII, 30 May 1995.

The flag is horizontal divided blue-yellow-blue, based on the municipal coat of arms.
The colours are determined by Pantone system as follows:

The decision does not mention the official proportion of the flag, so in the image shown above I have assumed that it is 1:2, like the national flag.

The coat of arms is shield-shaped with three points on the top, blue with a smaller white shield in upper part including year "ADMCLIV" (1154, first mention of the parish seat of Cerklje), and three yellow Greek crosses in lower part.
