Description of the flag

The flag and arms of Selnica op Dravi are prescribed by decisions Odlok o zastavi obcine Selnica ob Dravi (flag), and Odlok o grbu obcine Selnica ob Dravi ter o njegovi uporabi (coat of arms), both adopted on 22 July 1999 and published in the official local gazette Medobcinski uradni vestnik, 30/1999, pp. 747-748.

The flag is rectangular in ratio 1:3, horizontally divided white over green with the coat of arms set in the white stripe near the hoist.

Coat of arms

[Coat of arms of Selnica op D.]by Zeljko Heimer

The coat of arms of Selnica op Drave pictures an apple surounded by a crozier issuing from water surmonded with a fir tree.

The symbolic is explained as follows: green for the Koban hills, forests and pastures, the crozier for the synthesis of past and present, while its lower end recalls the belfry of St. Marietta. The four rings on the crozier are for the unity of the villages in the municipality and the apple stands for the orchads. The fir tree stands for the woodwork tradition and the water stands for the oldest hydroelectric power plant on the river Drava.
