Note on terminology

The word standards (stegovi) used here is obviously different from standarti, used for the royal standards, but I have not found a better translation, since steg comes from the root standing just as standard does.

Zeljko Heimer, 20 November 2003

A similar thing happens in German. Rank flags of heads of state and higher officials are usually termed Standarten (standards, as almost anywhere). However there is a further term with the stand- root which identifies swallowtailed- and pennant-shaped flags: Stander.

Commodore's standard

First version (1922)

[Commodore]by Zeljko Heimer

The commodore's standard (steg komodora) is prescribed in article 7 of the 1922 law. The flag is triangular, forked with the royal crown in full colours in canton. The overall ratio of the flag is 1:2.

The height of the pennant at fly is one third of its height at hoist and the fork reaches the half of the length. The crown is a quarter of the pennant height long and is set in the middle of the canton square half the hoist high.

[Commodeore, second version]by Zeljko Heimer

The commodore's standard (komandna zastava admirala) prescribed in the 1937 law is a swallow-tailed white square flag with a blue border all around.

.Here again, Flaggenbuch [neu39] still shows the former version of the flag.
